Your control over your dreams determines your "afterlife".

Recently, a friend told me that dimethyltryptamine, or DMT for short, is a psychedelic drug naturally produced by the human brain... a small amount of which, causes dreams. Also, a MASSIVE amount of the drug is released by the brain when a human dies.

As most people would know, time moves at a different rate in your dreams than it does in "awake" life. You fall asleep at 12:12 and have a long, elaborate dream, then wake up like four or five minutes later.

If a trace amount of DMT causes a long, elaborate dream... then a massive amount would cause an eternity... at least in one's mind. So, by that logic, when you die... you should be entering a dream world that would seem like an eternity.

The afterlife, in most religions, is an eternal life beyond this world. Beyond this waking world are our dreams, our imagination.

Heaven, is what we want it to be... if one realizes he is dreaming, he can control it. Hell, is supposed to be eternal torture. If you die and are trapped in a nightmare... you will be stuck in that nightmare until you come to realize that you can control what you perceive.

It is all a measure of will power and internal peace. If one is in turmoil, he will be immersed in a chaotic dream world... jumping between ideas and realities, never being to be able to find that peace. If one can bring themselves to a peaceful and serene state, they can manipulate their perceptions to fit their desires. They can make themselves happy.

If one is consumed by hatred, or psychologically damaged... they may be permanently drawn into torment in their dreams. So those of you plagued by nightmares better get them settled before you die...

But maybe these are just the crazy ravings of a madman. If you happen to read this and understand my point... please, let me know I'm not crazy.

Watchmen Review (Spoilers)

So, I saw the movie twice over the weekend. I noticed that a lot of people who read the graphic novel didn't like it, but several did. I loved it... which is why I saw it twice. The first time, it took a few minutes to piece everything together... but the second time, everything was a lot clearer.

I don't like that they left several key story elements out, but the movie was already nearly three hours long... so I guess everything else will be added to the DVD release, just like the extras in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I plan on getting or at least borrowing the graphic novel so I can read the original story line and hopefully get all of the details on the characters since I think some things were left out in the movie.

As far as characters go, Rorschach is my favorite. Jackie Earle Haley played the part phenomenally. Even with the mask on through most of the movie, it was easy to see who Rorschach was and his personality. I would say the performance was comparable to Heath Ledger as the Joker in the Dark Knight.

Dr. Manhattan's dialog was mostly metaphors, and it was quite clear how he was losing his attachment to society and mankind in general. His interaction with other characters was always pointing to him simply not caring about humanity anymore.

Matthew Goode played Ozymandias well, but seemed to be too easy to point out as an antagonist. Everything about him seemed to be arrogant. If you were to put sunglasses on him, he would remind me of Wesker from the Resident Evil series. Publicly, he played himself to be the savior of the world... attempting to unite every country with his renewable resources. Even while talking about his plans, it seemed that he had an alternative motive behind his research. When Nite Owl and Rorschach go to Veidt headquarters to find information, it's already easy to see that Ozy is behind it all.

Still... Ozy's fight scenes... I caught myself with my mouth hanging open as everything around him slowed down. It was amazing how he fought off Rorschach and Nite Owl with almost no effort.

I'll wait to reserve judgment until I've read the graphic novel, but as a movie on its own... I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

The Assassin

I've chosen a nickname for myself for playing beer pong. Since I only lost one game in 5 hours of playing, I thought I deserved to be a bit confident in my ability. While playing, I discovered that it was extremely easy to get a bounce shot off with appropriate distraction.

Misdirection and speed... keep it low as possible, and play off your partner's throws. If he takes a shot, bounce it in behind so the opponent has a hard time blocking it without hitting your teammate's ball.

Only after sinking several bounces did anyone catch on to my tactics... so I picked her as my partner for the next couple games. We kicked ass. The only game I lost was because the last cup was knocked over despite the ball not going in.

Since I love playing, I will most likely try to work a game of beer pong into a movie... like and1 beer pong.

Oh, and by the way... I was hoping to make a deal with my uncle to buy his Ford Explorer so I can finally have a damn car... but of course, he gets his hours cut at work and he doesn't know if he can afford to buy a new car. That's really lame, since he has worked there like forever and he's having to look for a new job at age 52.

Haze

So I was rather intoxicated last night. I hate not having some upbeat music to keep me from slipping into depression. Lately Muse does it for me. Last night... lots of booze, no Muse. I couldn't really say all of the emotions and horrible feelings running through my body and mind. If someone were to ask if stress could literally make you sick... I can confirm it. It's not the alcohol, because I feel like this even when I'm not drinking.

I put up a false front to keep my friends from catching on. I hate opening up to people... and I really don't like putting my problems on other people. So, I just keep acting... and I'm getting pretty damn good at it. Sometimes it's just really hard to smile when you feel like you're dying inside.

But alas, I can get through this all too easily. The problem is with me, so I just have to find what causes it and change it... and until I find it, I'm going to do homework.

Movie Progress

Since I was really bored yesterday morning when I woke up and realized I slept through the alarm... I started writing an outline for the movie I plan on making over the summer. It started with just an idea for the antagonist's voice... then mutated and formed into an actual story. It's not supposed to be taken seriously, even though the plot is somewhat serious. Think of it like Evil Dead or Army of Darkness. A serious storyline with so many quips and jokes that it's hard to be taken seriously. I'm totally fine with making a silly movie... it'll be a good experience either way.

The story is about a nerdy guy who seems to have nothing going for him in his life. While spending time with his friends one night, he gets a strange phone call telling him to get home. He neglects the warning and is captured by a strange man dressed in all black. When he wakes up, the man tells him that there is a lot more to the galaxy than he could possibly imagine and that most of Earth's science fiction stories are based on reality, just out of Earth's reach.

The man tells him that there are special beings in the galaxy who have power over the very fabric of the universe and can control that power with the will to do so. The man in black says that he is one of them, and he hunts the others down. The protagonist is then sent into a forest in search of a weapon to defend himself with.

I won't give any more of the story away, but I know that the outline is done except for a title, character names, and any minor changes I feel like making. After that, I just have to script it out and cast the roles. I think if anything, I'll most likely play the bad guy or at least choreograph the fight scenes. Since I'm the only one of my friends with video production experience, I know I'll be doing all of the editing and probably the camera work as well.

I think the script may have to wait for a while though... 18 credit hours leaves me with a weekly mountain of homework. And there's always the other stuff outside of school I have to do like work and whatnot.

I need a new video game...

Since I don't have xbox live, I can't get too much multiplayer replay value out of my games. I can't download content either... so all of the new sweet levels, multiplayer maps, and awards are out of my reach. Also because of my crappy job, I don't have the money to buy a new game every week. I probably could, but I'm saving to buy a car.

Mass Effect, GH3, Knights of the Old Republic, and The Force Unleashed are pretty much the only games I still play... which is pretty sad when a lot of great games have come out recently and I haven't even gotten a chance to play them.

Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Fallout 3, Left for Dead, and Gears of War 2 are on my to-get list... but it seems that most of them would be best played with online access... which is half the fun of those games. I would get a Wii or PS3 to have free online capabilities, but those would put a huge dent in my bank account... and just after paying for all of my books and whatnot for classes... I'm in even more debt than I was just after Christmas.

Short of winning a bunch of money soon, I don't think I'll be able to get Live or too many new games... but I'm reserving Resident Evil 5. I don't care how much money I have, that game is going to be epic and I want a piece of that sweet zombie killing action.

I read on IGN that some journalists were saying that Resident Evil 5 is racist because you're in Africa... killing black people. Now, that is just ridiculous because in Resident Evil 4, you're in Spain... killing Spanish people. I loved that game... does that make me racist against Spanish people? Hell no... it just means that I love epic video games with lots of action and violence... no matter what race the fictional characters are.
